| Obverse description | The center of the obverse features the double-headed eagle emblem of the Bank of Russia, modeled after the design by Ivan Bilibin, set within a beaded circle. A semicircular legend reads «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA) below the eagle. Along the upper rim appears the denomination «ДВА РУБЛЯ» (TWO ROUBLES) and the date «1999» along the lower rim.
