Obverse description At centre, the double-headed eagle of the Russian Federation rendered in high relief without crowns, sceptre, or orb, with wings spread downward in the post-1992 state emblem style. The denomination ДВА РУБЛЯ arcs along the upper periphery in bold Cyrillic lettering, while the issuer legend БАНК РОССИИ curves along the lower centre below the eagle. The date 1998 Г. appears at the bottom, flanked by raised dots. Fineness and weight indications Ag 925 and 15,55 are inscribed in the lower field to either side of the eagle, with the Saint Petersburg Mint monogram (СПМД) visible at the lower right. The design is framed by a beaded inner circle.
