Additional information

Part of Russia's twelve-piece zodiac series issued across 2002–2005, this coin was produced at the Saint Petersburg Mint (СПМД). The series marked a period when the Bank of Russia was aggressively expanding its commemorative program following the 1998 ruble crisis — proof collector issues offered a revenue stream largely insulated from the volatility that had gutted public confidence in circulating currency.

Mintage for the Capricorn issue was 10,000 pieces.
