Part of Russia's long-running zodiac series issued through the early 2000s, these coins were produced in relatively modest quantities for the collector market and saw virtually no circulation. The Bank of Russia commissioned the full twelve-sign set across several years, with individual signs released on no fixed schedule — a production approach that frustrated set collectors at the time and continues to create minor pricing asymmetries between signs on the secondary market.
