| Aanvullende informatie |
North Yemen issued this coin to commemorate the Apollo 11 moon landing in July 1969 — an unusual choice for the Yemen Arab Republic, which was barely seven years removed from the revolution that ended the Imamate and was still fighting a civil war with Saudi-backed royalist forces as late as 1967. The decision to strike a commemorative in .925 silver for an American space mission reflects the republic's broader effort to signal modernity and international legitimacy rather than any direct connection to the program itself.
