| 正面描述 | The obverse features the Weimar-style German Imperial Eagle displayed with wings spread and head facing right, rendered in high relief against a plain field. The eagle's plumage is finely detailed with layered feathers on both the wings and breast. The circular legend in Gothic blackletter script reads 'DEUTSCHES REICH' above and '2 REICHSMARK' below, flanking the eagle. The mint mark appears in small relief beneath the eagle's talons at the base of the design. |

Issued to mark the 450th anniversary of Luther's birth, this coin appeared in the same year the Nazi government consolidated power — a timing that was not incidental. The regime found Luther ideologically convenient: his 1543 tract On the Jews and Their Lies had long been cited by German antisemites, and the Deutsche Christen movement was actively co-opting Protestant symbolism. Whether the issue was celebratory, propagandistic, or simply opportunistic calendar politics remains a point of historiographical debate.
Two mint marks appear in the series: A (Berlin) and F (Stuttgart), with Stuttgart strikes notably scarcer.
