The countermark was punched onto the host coin's field, validating it for circulation under Costa Rican monetary authority. The host coin visible beneath the countermark appears to be a British silver shilling, showing a crowned lion passant above a royal crown and floral emblems with the partial legend 'BRITANNIARUM REX FIDEI DEFENSOR' around the periphery. A small drill hole is present at the left of the host coin's field, consistent with prior use as a pendant or suspension piece. |
