| Obverse description | The obverse displays the host coin's design: a draped bust of King Ferdinand VII facing left, laureate, occupying the central field. The encircling legend reads FERD·DIN·VII· to the left and DEI·GRATIA to the right, with the date 1812 positioned in the lower exergue. Applied over this field is the Costa Rican Type III counterstamp comprising a female head in left profile accompanied by the legend COSTA RICA above and the denomination 2 R below, all struck within a small oval or circular punch. The reeded border frames the entire composition. |
