Reverse description Central shield of Aragon — displaying the traditional four vertical pales on a plain field — surmounted by a royal crown with trefoil finials. The mint mark 'CA' for the Zaragoza mint and the denomination mark 'II' appear flanking the shield in the field. The circular peripheral legend, beginning with a small cross patée, names the sovereign Philip III and invokes the divine right formula. The flan is irregular in outline, consistent with milled coinage of the period.
