At left, an allegorical female figure seated with a sword and cornucopia, accompanied by a small child figure at her feet, rendered in a fine line-engraved vignette. The Banco de Mendoza operated under a brief provincial banking window opened by Argentine law in the 1870s, before the national government progressively tightened control over note-issuing privileges. This 2 Reales denomination is denominated in Bolivian currency — reales moneda boliviana — which reflects the commercial reality of Mendoza at the time: the province sat along the trans-Andean trade corridor, and Bolivian coinage circulated widely enough that local banks had to acknowledge it in their paper.
J.B. Simón printed from Buenos Aires, a modest commercial press rather than one of the major security printers. The PS#1750 reference places this among the rarest surviving pieces of Cuyo regional banking history.
