| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned royal arms of Spain within a quartered shield, bearing the castles of Castile and lions of León, with the Bourbon fleur-de-lis in the lower center escutcheon. The shield is surmounted by an elaborate royal crown with foliate ornaments. To the left of the shield appear the mint mark S (Seville) and assayer initial J, flanked by the denomination mark II and the R (Reales) indicator. The circular legend LUDOVICUS I D G runs around the periphery, separated by small cross ornaments, within a beaded border. |

| Reverse description | Central design features a plain cross with a quatrefoil interstitial pattern, dividing the field into four quarters each containing alternating castles (for Castile) and rampant lions (for León), rendered in bold relief. The cross arms terminate within a lobate or cusped frame giving the composition an elegant Gothic character. The date 1724 appears at the top of the coin between small cross stops, and the legend HISPANIARUM REX runs around the full circumference, also punctuated by small cross ornaments, within a beaded border. |
