Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Ferdinand VII facing right, rendered in the armored portrait style typical of the Guadalajara Mint's colonial coinage. The king's hair is shown in curled locks beneath a laurel wreath, with a caduceus visible at the truncation of the bust. The date 1814 appears in the lower exergue below the portrait. The encircling legend reads FERDIN·VII·DEI·GRATIA, interrupted by the bust, running from lower left to upper right around the periphery of the field.
