Reverse description Central device consists of the crowned Royal Arms of Spain — a quartered shield bearing the castles of Castile and the lions of León — flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules, each column entwined with a serpentine banner. The royal crown surmounts the shield. The mint mark GA and assayer initials MR appear to the left of the shield, with the denomination 2R also indicated in the legend. The surrounding Latin legend reads •HISPAN•ET IND•REX•GA•2R•M•R•, identifying the monarch as King of Spain and the Indies, with the Guadalajara mint and assayer attribution.
