Reverse description Crowned Pillars of Hercules design, with two crowned columns flanking a central cross, representing the Strait of Gibraltar and the motto of the Spanish Crown. The denomination mark and assayer's initial appear partially struck on the irregular cob flan, with the date partially visible in the lower portion of the field. The characteristic rough, planchet edges and uneven strike are typical of macuquin coinage of the period.
