| Reverse description | The crowned Royal Arms of Spain occupy the central field, displaying the quartered shield with castles and lions in the traditional arrangement, flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules. Each pillar is entwined with a banner bearing the Plus Ultra device. The mint mark P and assayer initial J appear to the left of the central device, while the denomination 2R is also indicated to the left. The circumferential legend HISPAN ET IND REX encircles the design, denoting the king's sovereignty over Spain and the Indies. The entire composition is enclosed within a toothed border consistent with the milled coinage standard of the Potosí Mint. |
