Reverse description Bold Latin cross with a beaded quatrefoil or octolobe border framing the four quarters, each containing alternately a castle (for Castile) and a lion (for León), representing the heraldic arms of the Spanish Crown. The date 1704 is partially visible at the top of the field. The surrounding Latin legend reads HISPANIARVM REX. The overall composition is typical of Spanish colonial and metropolitan cob coinage of the Habsburg-to-Bourbon transitional period, with the cross extending nearly to the coin's edge.
