Obverse description The quartered royal arms of Castile and León displayed within a shield at center, showing the castles of Castile and the lions of León in alternating quarters, all enclosed within a beaded inner border. The shield is flanked on either side by partial olive or laurel branches, with the denomination numeral '2' visible to the left of the shield. A partial Latin legend runs along the periphery, though largely off-flan due to the cob (macuquina) striking method typical of colonial Spanish mints.
