| Obverse description | The quartered royal arms of Castile and León displayed within a shield at center, showing the castles of Castile and the lions of León in alternating quarters, all enclosed within a beaded inner border. The shield is flanked on either side by partial olive or laurel branches, with the denomination numeral '2' visible to the left of the shield. A partial Latin legend runs along the periphery, though largely off-flan due to the cob (macuquina) striking method typical of colonial Spanish mints. |

| Reverse description | Two crowned Pillars of Hercules flanking the motto 'PLVS SVLTRA' (Plus Ultra) inscribed in three lines across the central field, with the mint mark 'NR' (Nueva Reino, for Santa Fe de Bogotá) and assayer initial visible below. Three wavy lines representing the sea appear at the base of the design. A rope or cable border runs along the periphery of the irregularly shaped cob flan, characteristic of the macuquina coinage of the Spanish colonial period. |
