Obverse description Central device displays the crowned arms of Castile and León, featuring the quartered shield with castles and lions in the customary arrangement of the Spanish Habsburg colonial coinage. The denomination numeral II appears to the upper left of the shield, while the assayer's initial and mint mark are visible in the field. Partial Latin legend surrounds the device, though much of it falls off the irregular flan as is characteristic of cob coinage. The strike, typical of macuquina manufacture, is uneven, with portions of the design weakly impressed.
