Reverse description Bold saltire cross with flared ends dividing the field into four quadrants, each containing a heraldic device: the castles of Castile and the lions of León in alternating quarters, characteristic of the macuquina coinage of Philip II. The cross is rendered in high relief relative to the irregular flan. Partial Latin legend is visible around the periphery, with the mint mark and assayer's initial partially struck on the irregular planchet. The overall appearance is typical of hand-struck cob coinage produced at the Seville mint during the second half of the sixteenth century.
