Obverse description Cuban lattice countermark applied to the obverse of a Spanish host coin. The host coin displays a right-facing draped bust of Ferdinand VII with a curved legend along the upper and lower periphery and the date below the effigy. The lattice countermark, punched in 1841 to validate the host coin for circulation in Cuba, is struck into the obverse field and partially overlaps the bust and legend.
