Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King Ferdinand VII of Spain facing right, occupying the central field. The legend FERDN VII reads to the left and DEI GRATIA to the right, with the date 1814 positioned in the lower exergual area. A small rectangular lattice countermark, applied by Cuban authorities in 1841, is punched into the right field of the coin, partially overlapping the monarch's effigy. The reeded border frames the design on all sides.
