Reverse description The crowned arms of Castile and León occupy the central field, depicting the quartered royal coat of arms with castles and lions, surmounted by the royal crown. Flanking the shield on either side stand the Pillars of Hercules, each wrapped with a banner bearing the motto PLUS VLTRA. The circular legend HISPAN ET IND REX runs along the upper and lower periphery, with the mintmark So, denomination 2R, and assayer initials FJ appearing in the left field. Dots and ornamental stops separate the legend elements.
