| Obverse description | Draped bust of King Carlos III facing right, rendered in the neoclassical style characteristic of late 18th-century Spanish colonial coinage. The king's hair is tied back with a ribbon, falling in a queue behind the neck. The circular legend CAROLUS • III • DEI • GRATIA • runs around the periphery, with the date 1773 positioned in the lower exergual area between two pellets.
