Obverse description Crowned bust of Carlos II facing right, depicted in a stylized, somewhat frontal manner with long flowing hair, set within a beaded inner circle. Directly below the bust appears a small heraldic lion passant. The legend encircling the bust reads + CAROLVS · II · DEI · GRATIA · REX, rendered in Latin capitals. The overall style is characteristic of hammered coinage of the late seventeenth-century Crown of Aragon, with a somewhat archaic and flat relief treatment of the royal effigy.
