| Aanvullende informatie |
Chile's Casa de Moneda de Santiago was established in 1743 under Spanish colonial authority and continued striking coins after independence essentially without interruption, which is precisely why early Republican-era issues like this one are so often misread as colonial holdovers. The 2 Reales denomination persisted well into the 1830s despite Chile having been independent since 1818, a practical concession to a population that trusted familiar denominations over newly branded republican coinage.
KM#92 was struck during the presidency of Joaquín Prieto, whose conservative administration stabilized the currency after years of post-independence fiscal disorder.
