Reverse description A large eight-pointed sun with alternating straight and wavy rays radiates from a central solar face occupying the majority of the field, a design emblematic of the Argentine Confederation period. The denomination 2 R and the fineness indicator 9 D appear to the left and right of the sun respectively, while the date 1849 is inscribed in the lower field below the central device. The word CONFEDERADA arcs across the upper portion of the coin in bold Latin capitals. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border consistent with the obverse.
