Reverse description The arms of Ecuador occupy the central field, depicting a shield surmounted by a condor with outstretched wings. The shield contains a solar disc above the snow-capped peaks of Mount Chimborazo, with a steamship on a river in the lower portion. The shield is supported on each side by laurel and palm branches, tied at the base with a ribbon. The circular legend REPUBLICA DEL ECUADOR arcs around the upper periphery, with the mint mark QUITO. G. J. and denomination 2. Rs. inscribed in the lower field, flanked by a floral rosette at the lower left.
