| Obverse description | Central device depicts the coat of arms of the Republic of New Granada, comprising a heraldic shield divided into three horizontal sections, the uppermost charged with a pomegranate fruit flanked by cornucopiae, the middle section bearing a liberty cap, and the lower section with a maritime scene. The shield is flanked on either side by symmetrical olive or laurel branches that meet at the base, forming an open wreath.
