Obverse description Central field bears the Argentine coat of arms — an oval shield depicting a pike surmounted by a Phrygian cap, quartered with horizontal bands — enclosed within a wreath of laurel and olive branches tied at the base. A radiant sun in glory rises above the shield. The denomination '2 R' appears flanking the shield to left and right respectively, while the mint mark 'B' and assayer initial appear in the lower field. The circular legend reads 'REPUB. ARGENT. CONFEDERADA' around the upper periphery, with the date '1843' and mint letter 'R' along the lower border.
