At center, the Chilean coat of arms is displayed as a quartered shield bearing a five-pointed star, surmounted by a feathered Mapuche-style plume crest. The denomination '2 R' flanks the shield on either side. The shield is encircled by a wreath of laurel and huemul branches, tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The circular legend 'REPUBLICA DE CHILE' runs around the periphery, with the date '1843' appearing at the base and the assayer initials 'I·J·' visible at the lower right.
