| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse features the poet's full name rendered in a bold, multi-line typographic design across the left and central fields, reading 'Carlos DRUMMOND de Andrade', with the birth and centenary years '1902' and '2002' inscribed below in two separate lines. To the right, an abstract stylized profile portrait of Drummond de Andrade is rendered in outline form, depicting his distinctive bespectacled face in a minimalist graphic treatment against the polished field. Curved linear elements at the lower portion of the field complete the artistic composition. The design pays homage to the centenary of Brazil's most celebrated modernist poet in a contemporary graphic style. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Issued to mark the centenary of Carlos Drummond de Andrade's birth, this coin appeared four years after the 1998 centennial year — a scheduling oddity the Banco Central never publicly explained. Drummond, who died in 1987 just nine days after his only daughter, had famously refused state honors during his lifetime, making his posthumous appearance on a commemorative coin a quietly ironic footnote to his biography.
