| Reverse description | The reverse bears a two-line Devanagari legend inscribed within a rectangular panel divided by bold horizontal and vertical ruled lines, a layout typical of medieval Central Indian feudatory silver coinage. The upper register reads 'Sri Jaga' (with 'Sri' possibly contracted as 'Si'), and the lower register reads 'Pala', together forming the royal name and epithet 'Sri Jagapala' identifying the issuing feudatory ruler. The characters are rendered in an angular, somewhat archaic Devanagari hand consistent with 12th-century epigraphic conventions of the Ratnapura region. The field surrounding the legend panel is plain, and the irregular flan edge is typical of hand-hammered production. |
