Beschrijving keerzijde The numeral '2' appears prominently in the upper field, with the denomination legend RAPPEN inscribed below it and the four-digit date beneath that, all contained within a wreath of oak branches with acorns and foliage rising from a tied base and meeting at the top of the design. The plain field within the wreath provides a clean background to the bold serif lettering. A beaded border runs along the outer rim.

Aanvullende informatie

Schwyz struck these small billon pieces during the final years before the Swiss Federal Constitution of 1848 dissolved cantonal monetary authority into a unified national system. The canton had long issued its own coinage under the Old Confederation, and the 1842–1846 series represents one of the last exercises of that independent prerogative. The "wide shield" designation distinguishes this variety from a narrower die used across the same period — a difference catalogued by Divo and confirmed through die study rather than obvious to casual inspection.
