Obverse description The South African coat of arms is centrally depicted in high relief, featuring the secretary bird with outstretched wings above a shield supported by two human figures, with wheat stalks and a tusk motif below. The national motto !KE E:/XARRA //KE appears on the scroll at the base of the arms, with the engraver's initials ALS visible in the lower field. The date 2008 is split across the left and right fields flanking the arms.
