| Reverse description | The reverse depicts two Cape vultures (Gyps coprotheres) rendered in fine detail against a deeply mirrored proof field. One vulture is shown in full flight with wings extended to the left, while a second stands perched on rocky terrain to the right, its bare neck and hooked beak clearly defined. A stylised background pattern of interlocking geometric forms frames the composition. The denomination 'R2' is prominently inscribed in the upper field, and the engraver's initials 'CM' appear to the lower left. The overall design is the work of engraver Cecil Moses. |
