| Obverse description | The post-1994 South African coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a secretary bird with spread wings above a shield supported by two human figures, with a spear and knobkierie flanking the shield and a wreath of wheat ears at the base. The motto ribbon below the shield bears the Khoisan inscription IKE E: XARRA IKE. The date 2014 appears in the upper field above the arms. The legends iNingizimu Afrika to the left and uMzantsi Afrika to the right flank the device in a vertical orientation along the coin's rim, representing the country's name in isiZulu and isiXhosa respectively. The engraver's initials ALS appear in the lower field. |
