| Obverse description | The South African national coat of arms displayed centrally in the field, featuring the secretary bird with outstretched wings surmounted by a rising sun, a shield bearing two human figures, crossed spear and knobkierie, and wheat sheaves below, all enclosed within a scroll bearing the national motto '!KE E:/XARRA //KE' in the !Ui-taa language. The legend 'SOUTH AFRICA' arcs along the upper periphery, the date '2009' appears in the lower field, and the engraver's initials 'ALS' are inscribed to the lower left of the arms.
