Reverse description Central field bearing the Arabic phrase 'Azza nasruhu' (May his victory be glorious) in bold calligraphic script, with the mint name Omdurman (أم درمان) and the AH date 1312 inscribed below. The entire design is contained within a circular border of crescents, consistent with the obverse border treatment. The inscription follows the Mahdist convention of invoking divine support for the ruler, replacing the Ottoman-style imperial legends of earlier Sudanese coinage.
