A mule struck with two reverse dies — no obverse — this piece is an authenticated mint error from the Riyadh facilities during a period when SAMA was rapidly expanding coin production to service a cash economy transformed overnight by oil revenues. Double-reverse mules require a obverse die to be replaced with a second reverse, almost certainly the result of a mis-loaded die station catching multiple planchets before correction.
KM# 48.2 is the scallop-edged variety, distinguishing it from 48.1.
