Beschrijving voorzijde Central field occupied entirely by a multi-line Persian legend in bold Nasta'liq script, reading the royal titulature of Naser al-Din Shah. The inscription is divided by a horizontal rule into two registers: the upper register bearing the honorific titles and the lower register completing the royal name and epithet. The legend is surrounded by a finely engraved floral and foliate arabesque border composed of scrolling vines and stylised blossoms, all contained within a raised circular border and a flat outer rim.

Aanvullende informatie

Nāṣer al-Dīn Shāh's long reign — 1848 to 1896 — saw Iran's coinage repeatedly reformed as the Qājār treasury struggled under the financial strain of European concessions and modernization debts. The Tabrīz mint served the northwestern provinces and Azerbaijan, operating with considerable autonomy from Tehran, which accounts for the meaningful die variation collectors encounter across provincial issues of this type. KM#842 sits in the middle of Nāṣer al-Dīn's monetary reorganization period following the 1876 recoinage decree.
