| 正面描述 | Central device depicts the domed mosque of the Afghan royal arms, flanked on each side by two crossed Afghan national flags and framed by wheat ears curving upward from the base to form a wreath. The Solar New Year (Afghan) date ١٣١٦ appears in Arabic-Eastern numerals immediately below the mosque, with the Arabic legend افغانستان (Afghanistan) inscribed on a ribbon scroll at the foot of the design. |

Zahir Shah had taken the throne in 1933 at nineteen years old following his father's assassination, though real power remained with his uncles through the 1930s. This issue falls squarely within that regency period — the king's name on the coin, the actual governance elsewhere. The 2 pul was the smallest denomination in circulation, struck in quantities sufficient for everyday bazaar transactions but durable enough that survivors are rarely found in any condition approaching mint state.
