Amanullah Khan's reformist ambitions drove a sweeping recoinage program in the mid-1920s, part of his broader push to modernize Afghan institutions along European lines. The 2 Pul sits at the bottom of that new decimal-adjacent system, issued from the Kabul mint during a narrow window before his reforms collapsed under tribal and religious resistance. His abdication came in 1929.
