Additional information

Issued to mark the first anniversary of World Food Day, established by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1980 to coincide with the FAO's own founding date of October 16, 1945. Malta's participation reflected the country's broader engagement with UN developmental initiatives during Dom Mintoff's administration — a period when Maltese foreign policy deliberately cultivated non-aligned credentials and multilateral visibility.

KM#52 was struck in limited numbers for collectors and saw essentially no circulation.
