| 正面铭文 | ELIZABETH II ALDERNEY RDM |
| 背面描述 | The reverse commemorates the total solar eclipse of 11 August 1999, depicting two gannets in the right foreground rendered in fine detail, with the distinctive church of St. Anne, Alderney, visible in the middle ground to the left. Above the church, a stylized radiant sun partially obscured by the moon illustrates the eclipse phenomenon. The arc inscription TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE SUN runs along the upper left periphery, the date 1999 appears to the upper right, and the denomination TWO POUNDS is inscribed in two lines across the lower field. The designer's mark appears in the lower exergue area. |

Alderney issued this coin to mark the total solar eclipse of 11 August 1999, whose path of totality crossed the English Channel and passed directly over the Channel Islands — making it one of the few occasions where a British Crown Dependency sat within the zone of complete darkness. The eclipse lasted approximately two minutes over Alderney itself, drawing significant numbers of observers to the island specifically for the event.
