| Aanvullende informatie |
Part of Gibraltar's long-running Hercules series, this piece depicts the second of the twelve labors — the Lernean Hydra, whose severed heads famously regenerated until Hercules' nephew Iolaus cauterized each stump with a torch. Gibraltar has issued commemorative bimetallic £2 coins in this mythological series across multiple years, producing them for general circulation alongside collector sets. The KM#1776 reference places it firmly within the modern Gibraltar decimal coinage program, administered under the Gibraltar Government's own issuing authority, distinct from the Royal Mint despite sharing the monarch.
