| 正面铭文 | QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND RDM 1989 |
| 背面描述 | Central shield bearing a rampant lion, flanked symmetrically by eight stylised floral rosettes arranged in a circular pattern around the shield, the whole composition enclosed within a polished proof field. The design, engraved by Michael Rizzello, conveys a heraldic and decorative character commemorating the Royal Visit to Alderney. The encircling legend reads 'ALDERNEY · ROYAL VISIT · TWO POUNDS ·' in raised Latin lettering, divided around the periphery of the coin. |

Alderney had not issued coins of its own before this piece. The 1989 Royal Visit commemorative — struck to mark Queen Elizabeth II's visit to the island — inaugurated the Bailiwick dependency's coinage program entirely, making KM#1a a genuine first-issue type rather than simply another commemorative in a long run.
The proof was struck by the Royal Mint on contract.
