Reverse description The reverse presents a highly detailed depiction of the Bell Rock Lighthouse (also known as Inchcape Lighthouse), rising from a rugged rocky outcrop surrounded by churned seas, commemorating the engineering achievement of Robert Stevenson who oversaw its construction between 1807 and 1811. The slender granite tower, with its characteristic tapering form and lantern room at the summit, dominates the copper-nickel inner field, with seabirds visible in the background field. Flanking the boundary between the inner disc and the outer ring at left and right are stylised elements referencing nautical or engineering instruments. The legend BELL ROCK arcs along the upper portion of the nickel brass outer ring, with TWO POUNDS inscribed along the lower arc, both separated by raised dot stops.
