The gold-coloured outer ring bears the legend 1759 ROBERT BURNS 1796 along the upper periphery, recording the poet's birth and death years, with TWO POUNDS inscribed at the base. The design commemorates the 250th anniversary of Burns's birth and was executed by the Royal Mint design team. |
