| 正面描述 | Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, as rendered by engraver Ian Rank-Broadley. The effigy is finely detailed with naturalistic hair and drapery folds at the shoulder. The legend arcs around the periphery, reading 'ELIZABETH II' to the left and 'BRITISH INDIAN OCEAN TERRITORY' to the right, with the date '2011' incorporated into the left arc. The engraver's initials 'IRB' appear below the truncation. |

The British Indian Ocean Territory has no permanent civilian population — the Chagossians were forcibly removed between 1968 and 1973 to make way for the joint UK-US military base at Diego Garcia. The territory issues coins purely as a revenue mechanism, with no domestic circulation possible by definition. This piece, commemorating Prince Philip's 90th birthday, is one of dozens of such issues produced by jurisdictions that exist administratively but not as functioning economies.
KM#5a distinguishes the .925 silver striking from the base-metal KM#5 issue produced in the same series.
